DermaPen creates thousands of controlled micro-channels at a precisely set depth, switching on the skin's wound-healing cascade and the production of new collagen and elastin.
It may be considered for acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines and overall skin quality. Where appropriate, your clinician may discuss pairing it with a skin-quality protocol.
Published, GST-inclusive, no surprises.
Topical anaesthetic application for the face is $15. Optional skin-quality additions are recommended and priced in consultation.
Skin needling is not one standard depth used across the whole face. A conservative treatment for general skin quality differs from a scar-focused protocol. Treatment depth, speed, number of passes and areas treated should be adjusted according to skin thickness, concern, sensitivity and healing history.
Acne scars also vary. Rolling, boxcar and narrow deep scars do not respond in the same way, and raised scars may require medical review. Active inflamed acne should generally be controlled before intensive scar needling is considered.
Skin needling may need to be postponed or avoided if you have:
This is not a complete contraindication list. Provide your full medical and treatment history during consultation.
Your clinician may ask you to pause selected retinoids, exfoliating acids or other active products before treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicine unless the prescriber advises it.
After treatment, use only the products recommended for the early healing period. Avoid picking, excessive heat, swimming and strenuous exercise for the period advised. Makeup and active skin care should not be resumed until appropriate. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential.
Temporary redness, warmth, tightness, swelling, dryness or light flaking can occur. Less common risks include infection, pigment change, prolonged inflammation and scarring.
Scarring and texture are assessed and needling depth planned.
Topical anaesthetic makes the treatment comfortable.
Controlled micro-needling passes across the area, typically 30 to 45 minutes.
Renewal continues for weeks; a series of sessions builds compounding results.
Skin looks flushed like mild sunburn for 24 to 48 hours, with possible light flaking. Makeup is best avoided for the first day.
Scarring plans typically run 3 to 6 sessions spaced about a month apart, reviewed against photos as you progress.
With numbing, most people feel only vibration and light pressure.
Often both, sequenced. Your clinician will map scar type and depth and recommend the order that gets the best result.
Post-needling skin rebuilds fastest with hydrating, barrier-first support.
